Some say the number 3 is magic. The past, present and future. The heart, brain and body. And now with the help of legendary filmmaker Taylor Steele, Billabong brings the trilogy of the three biggest stars of world surfing, Andy, Parko, Taj, in "Trilogy, the movie.
Andy Irons (Kauai, Haw), Taj Burrow (Yallingup, WA) and Joel Parkinson (Coolangatta, QLD) are three special people. All completely different in life history, personality and style. Yet all three share a universal characteristic, the ability to rip it up and redefine the parameters of the surf today.
The Trilogy is a special production because it tried to be original in its narrative. The film is filled with scenes of waves and waves also shows places and cultures rather exotic. Their locations included places like Spain, Morocco, Australia, Tahiti, Indonesia, Mexico and Hawaii.
The film took 18 months to be filmed. "It's been two long years of shooting and we managed to catch good waves early on for the production of the Trilogy," says Andy Irons. "I did not know much what to expect, but the fact of surfing with Parko and Taj knew it would be hallucinating," added the tri champion.
The scenario was a strong point in the movie. And one of the greatest moments of the film includes an angry meeting in Bali of Irons, Taj in search of high tubes in Morocco and Joel perfect waves crashing on a secret peak in Australia.
About the scenes chosen for the film Taylor Steele says, "We went to the editing room with Andy, Parko and Taj, and together we can choose among so many great scenes, which were the waves that aroused passion in their eyes and so we feel the it really worth it to insert the movie. It was an incredible thing. "
All three have participated in other films by Taylor Steele and Momentum: Under the Influence and Campaign I and II, but this is the first time we will come together to make an entire movie dedicated to the life of each one.
For Andy Irons, the Trilogy is remarkable for being his first personal film since its appearance in the film Blue Horizon, along with free surfer David Rastovich. Starring the film with his teammates, Parkinson and Burrow, Irons said the film created a unique environment to show your level of surfing.
"The filming of Trilogy were exciting. We got good waves in Mexico and excellent waves in Bali, "said Irons. And he confesses: "Everything has been great.
